If the current Democrat politicians were queried about the history of their party, they would probably fail the test. I am sure that DNC party members would take issue with that statement but the historical and current facts speak for themselves. In the 19th Century the southern states were uniformly a solid Democrat political party that supported a social and economic lifestyle. That lifestyle was hinged on Plantationism and supported agrarian slave labor. Their ideology vocally expressed their disdain for Africans as subhuman, so much so that secession from the Union was the only way to preserve it. The thought of any compromise on the issue eventually led to the polar ends we know as the civil war. Doesn’t this mean they are responsible for the Civil War? Well, you decide but nevertheless, they lost, and the course of events after 1865 truly defines the DNA of today’s Democratic party. As we look back, let’s see if the 21st Century Democrat changed its stripes.

Based on its history, it seems that the Democratic party has a real affinity for insurrections, secession being their defining act.  Notwithstanding the ultimate insurrection that was the Civil War, the political focus of the post war party was they and appears to be now to undermine the Union. This started with the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. While the Union victory left Republicans in control of Congress for the rest of the 19th century, the Democratic Party solidified its hold on the Southern whites mainly by opposed Republican measures that protected the civil and voting rights for African Americans. By the midcentury Southern state Democrats legislatures succeeded in rolling back many Republican reforms, and embraced the “Jim Crow” laws which enforced segregation and suppressed Black voting rights. These laws remained in place for the better part of the century and these facts resonate like neon lights in store windows that say “whites only” vote for us!

As the 19th century drew to a close, the Republicans had been firmly established as the party of big business. This was the “Gilded Age” when railroad fortune families built their summer “cottages” at Newport Rhode Island. Strangely enough, the Republicans wore the stigma of ostentatious wealth but it was an era when all income levels rose to significantly high levels. Alternatively, the Democratic Party strongly identified with rural agrarianism which at least portended to embrace conservative values, but during the Progressive Era, which spanned the turn of the century, the Democrats split from its conservative and more progressive members. The Democratic nominee for president in 1896, William Jennings Bryan campaigned for an expanded role of government to ensure “social justice.” He lost, but his advocacy of bigger government would forever influence the Democratic ideology going forward. Nevertheless, the Democratic Party and their resident propagandists attempt to rebut their historical racist past.  They make the case that … “At the core of the effort to discredit the current Democratic Party is the refusal to accept the realignment of the party in the mid-20th century,” Hunt.  Like we should forget the diabolical past of the complicit Word War II citizenry that bought into the Third Reich. It seems incomprehensible that a phenomenal re-alignment of the democratic took place in the early 20th century.

Republicans didn’t even start gaining consistent majorities in the south until the early 21st Century. It was the old, racist FDR era Democrats that died out and left their children and grandchildren to actually became Republicans over the decades of change. There is no historical evidence that there was a sudden purposeful switch in leadership and the party ideology in the mid-20th century. Contrary to what many people think, FDR and Woodrow Wilson were rabid racists and the democratic party was and is ultimately defined by this policy of progressivism.

“To make the case that the parties re-aligned to such an extent as to absolve the Democrat party of their historical sins is to pretend that some of the most famous of Democrat presidents weren’t actually Democrats. You’d also have to explain why modern Democrats continue to be progressives just as their early 20th century forebears were.” Red State

A “fact-checker” at USA Today wants us to believe of their cherry-picked facts. This is laid out in what is perhaps one of the worst, most ahistorical fact-checks ever printed. Here are some of the claims regarding the Confederacy and Democrats:

“The KKK is almost a paramilitary organization that’s trying to benefit one party. It syncs up with the Democratic Party, which really was a racist party openly at the time,” Grinspan said. “But the KKK isn’t the Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party isn’t the KKK.” Although the KKK did serve the Democratic Party’s interests, Grinspan stressed that not all Democrats supported the KKK…Despite KKK members’ primary political affiliation, Pitcavage said it is wrong to say the Democratic Party started the KKK. Got that? “It starts with FDR and the New Deal, but the actions with Lyndon B. Johnson in the 1960s with the Voting Rights Act and civil rights legislation really kind of seals the deal,” Grinspan said.

The KKK was made up of Democrats who held historical political office. It was a paramilitary group designed to serve the interests of the then openly racist Democratic party, but according to fact checkers, they weren’t representative of the Democrat party. Does that make sense?  Well neither does this!

“We rate the claim that the Democratic Party started the Civil War to preserve slavery and founded the KKK as FALSE because it is not supported by our research. Experts agree that although factions of the Democratic Party were responsible for the South’s secession and the rise of the KKK it is inaccurate to claim the party is responsible for either.”

Republicans actually voted more heavily for the Civil Rights Act than Democrats. They had pushed far longer for its passage than Democrats. The claim that Republicans abandoned Civil Rights is outright false. But USA Today got some “expert” to say it, so it must be used in their fact-check.

The Democratic Party was undoubtedly the party of racism and white supremacy during and after the Civil War. However, it evolved throughout the late 20th century, and garnered the support of most Black voters. If mainstream Republican politicians went and started a racist, paramilitary group, the Republican party itself would instantly be indicted by the current media. A staged insurrection that resulted in the mock investigatory committee where no one was hurt except a murdered demonstrator is evidence of the striking difference in the parties. Conversely, we’ve got a the main stream media outlets selling a bogus fact check that Democrat politicians starting the KKK can’t be blamed on the Democrat party, not just of today, but yesterday as well.

This fact-check is nothing more than political propaganda on behalf of Democrats. If you can align with them on God can help you.
